On June 20, at 9:30 AM in CARHAIX, we will discuss the autonomy of Brittany. The Welsh and the Scots show us the way. How can we offer a true Breton alternative to the centralizing system and its usual intermediaries? This is primarily a democratic issue.
As France races towards its downfall with a colossal debt of 3,500 billion, which no one thinks to limit since it is part of the system, it is time to take our affairs into our own hands.
The period that lies ahead of us is exciting. For the first time perhaps, Bretons are aware that the future can only depend on them.
Autonomy is no longer frightening. It’s as if we have conquered the cultural hegemony that makes us docile subjects within what they call a "region."
However, we are not a "region" but a people who aspire to manage their own affairs like any other people.
The Welsh and the Scots are taking their affairs into their own hands. And us Bretons?
Are we going to continue yielding to the forces of the system that control everything from Paris, through their local proxies, or are we finally going to consider offering them an alternative?
This system, which relies on networks of power and the old Parisian parties, is at the end of its rope. It is soon to be in moral, spiritual, and financial bankruptcy. It deploys its tricks to maintain power, claims to be ecological but cares nothing for it. It is ready to co-opt everything, even new ideas, to survive.
Its grand values are trampled every day to better serve the interests of the same people.
It is this moral bankruptcy that fuels the protest vote for the RN.
The true alternative to this drift is the old peripheral nations and their resilience. They represent a balancing force that society can no longer do without today.
It is democracy that still demands it. We must bring power closer to the people more than ever. Because it is at the local level that democracy lives.
We need to rethink everything today.
On June 20th in CARHAIX, we will debate this with all the Breton political forces. Will we ever be able to defend the interests of the people, like in Wales and elsewhere in Europe?
Come in large numbers, for the old world is collapsing around us and the future is waiting only for us.
