On the occasion of the European Heritage Days, a new work by Gilbert Louet dedicated to the remains of the Cité d’Alet and the history of Saint-Malo will be officially presented on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at the Espace Bouvet, at 6:00 PM (free entry).
Carried out for over three years at the request of the association "Droits de Cité," this project aims to highlight the historical heritage of the Alet neighborhood. The result takes the form of an innovative application containing eleven video chapters, designed to be both accessible, educational, and interactive.
3D Virtual Reconstructions to Bring the Past to Life
One of the highlights of this creation lies in the presentation of the remains of the Alet City in the form of 3D virtual reconstructions. These immersive technologies allow for the tracing of 17 centuries of history by bringing to life the monuments and spaces shaped by those who lived there over the centuries. This application is a direct continuation of two previous works by Gilbert Louet, dedicated to the History of Saint-Malo.
A Screening Followed by a Debate
To enlighten the public about this rich historical and archaeological saga, the presentation will be followed by a conference debate. The author will be joined by several leading specialists:
• Catherine Bizien-Jaglin, archaeologist at CERAA (Research and Archaeology Center of Alet);
• Philippe Petout, heritage curator at the Museum of Saint-Malo;
• Anne Lunven, Mickaël Gendry, and Gilles Foucqueron, historians.
