The results of the international PISA 2025 survey confirm the decline in academic performance in a large part of Europe, while several Asian countries continue to occupy the top of the rankings. The Celtic countries are not exempt from this trend.
Scotland and Wales have seen a significant decline compared to 2022. The Republic of Ireland maintains good results, but also experiences a decline like Scotland. England, on the other hand, stands out by maintaining a high level. The country of Newton, Faraday, Darwin, and Stephen Hawking even gains points, particularly in science and mathematics.
Brittany does not have its own PISA results: Breton students are included in the disappointing results of France. Therefore, France is included in our table for comparison. Given the very good results obtained each year in the baccalaureate in Brittany, one might think that the Breton PISA score would be higher than the French average, although this cannot be verified due to a lack of regional data.
