The AFB-EKB denounces the failure to assign vacant positions to qualified bilingual teachers awaiting appointment in Loire-Atlantique and Caulnes, while monolingual French-speaking teachers are appointed in their place.
In Loire-Atlantique, five bilingual (French-Breton) positions remain vacant while at least three qualified and available teachers are not being recruited.
Around a hundred students are thus deprived of education in Breton.
In Caulnes (22), the absence of a bilingual teacher severely undermines the program.
The AFB-EKB strongly denounces the management of the Nantes rectorate and the failure to respect the Molac law, which recognizes and protects the teaching of the Breton language.
We also express our deep dissatisfaction with the silence of Loïg Chesnais Girard, president of the Brittany Regional Council. We expect a public response and swift intervention from him.
This situation demonstrates the limitations of a centralized National Education system. Only a reunified Brittany, endowed with genuine competencies in education within a federal framework, can sustainably guarantee the transmission of the Breton language.
