Students who have taken a specialization in a regional language will, starting from the 2028 session of the baccalaureate, see the mention "bilingual curriculum" appear on their diploma. A decree published on Wednesday in the Official Journal also formalizes the possibility of taking the exam for this specialization in the studied regional language.
This development realizes the announcement made at the end of May by the Ministry of National Education.

However, the system remains limited: only one specialization can be prepared and assessed in a regional language. The others must be taken and passed in French.
Until now, even students who had completed all their specialized education in a regional language had to take the final exam in French, unless the regional language itself constituted the specialization. This reform thus represents a new recognition of bilingual pathways and regional languages within secondary education.
